Rhinoplasty (Nose Job) - A Word From Our Surgeon

m m alwyndsouzaOne of our London Facial Surgeons - Alwyn D'Souza has written the below in response for requests for more information about our rhinoplasty service, in particular, the way he uses cutting edge software to  to show you what the post operative result might look like prior to nose surgery. If you'd like to know more - please contact us.

Rhinoplasty also called the “nose job” is one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed by Mr. D’Souza. Rhinoplasty is considered one of the most complex facial plastics procedures, that a facial plastic surgeon carries out and this has been Mr D’Souza’s experience as well, taking into consideration his vast experience with different types of facial plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures such as facelift surgery, eyelid surgery (also termed as blepharoplasty), forehead and brow lift surgery and other facial reconstructive procedures including scar revision.

Rhinoplasty surgery carries a reputation, of having a rather uncomfortable postoperative recovery, mainly related to significant bruising, pain and blocked sensation with inability to breathe through the nose. Patients who have undergone rhinoplasty often complain of the misery that they have to endure whilst removing the nasal packing that was inserted at the time of surgery. Mr D’Souza refutes this argument, as his nose job patients recover seamlessly well with minimal bruising, pain and discomfort. This of course is related to his meticulous surgical planning and execution of surgical steps.

So the question is how does he achieve this? Well, the answer is in the following paragraph.

All rhinoplasty or “nose job” patients who come to see Mr. D’Souza are assessed in detail both for their medical fitness for surgery, as well as aesthetically with clinical photographs. These photographs are then morphed to demonstrate, the desired postoperative result. This means all rhinoplasty patients can see their desired nose even before proceeding to surgery and discuss any particular worries they may have. These photographs are used as a guide during surgery, and are compared with intra-operative photos thus maximizing the chance of desired pre-discussed aesthetic outcome.

Mr. D’Souza’s surgical team includes his own expert anesthetist, specialist surgical assistant and scrub nurse. This means the whole surgical team works seamlessly to produce the best possible outcome. Postoperatively, the patients are looked after by an expert, dedicated team of nurses and discharged with all the required follow up instructions. The external splint placed on the nose, is removed at one-week follow-up. The stitches are all absorbable which means the patients do not go through the uncomfortable process of stitch removal. Mr. D’Souza operates an “open door” policy, which means the patients are welcome to come back and see Mr. D’Souza at any time postoperatively in addition to the essential post-operative follow up appointments at no extra cost.
